Performance
One of the most important considerations in assessing the performance of any wind turbine is the blade or rotor size . The Gaia 11 kW Wind Turbine has a blade diameter of 13meters, giving a total swept area of 133m², (most competitors turbine blades are half this size).
To quote Paul Gipe from Wind Power For Home and Business, “Nothing says more about a wind turbine than rotor diameter. Nothing. Doubling the rotor diameter yields a four-fold increase in swept area, with a corresponding increase in electrical generation”
The Gaia-Wind 133-11kW turbine is also supplied on an 18m tower, which is 3 meters higher than our main competitors. This added height increases energy captured by around 10%.
Gaia Wind Turbines are also among the quietest available on the market today, primarily due to its constant blade rotational speed of only 56rpm, regardless of wind speed.
